Below are the upcoming program dates for World Travel 101 and Cultural Kitchen events for Girl Scouts. To register for events, please email Carissa at programs@hiwsc.org with your name, the number of girls you are signing up, and the event date. If none of these dates work for you but you have a troop who is still interested in our workshop, please email Carissa at programs@hiwsc.org.-World Travel 101 - World Travel 101 is a two hour workshop teaching girls how to plan for, pack for, and stay safe during a trip. The workshop costs $3, and girls earn the Discover the World patch. Upcoming event dates include:
- Cultural Kitchen - Cultural Kitchens are an opportunity for a troop to explore a country through its cuisine. Troops will have two or three initial meetings with their troop leaders to pick and research a country, as well as explore ideas of cultural awareness through a series of games and worksheets. The meetings will culminate in a final meeting at a Washington State hostel (Port Townsend or Seattle), where girls will work together to cook a community meal from their focus country. Girls will be able to invite hostel guests to join in their meal, and will share what they have learned about their focus country during a short presentation to their guests. The program cost of $17/girl includes all teaching materials, training costs for troop leaders, all meetings including the final meeting, and groceries for the final meeting. Overnights are available at the hostels at an additional cost. Girls who complete the program earn the Discover the World patch. Upcoming dates include:
